Macgyver “Mac” Marathon Morris is the handsome, charming, and privileged[1] son of wealthy Governor Zack Morris.

History

Mac has difficulties with the concept of the Douglas High students transferring to Bayside, but eventually becomes good friends with numerous of them, who help him change his ways and grow closer with his father.

Early Life

Mac Morris was born in 2004 to Zack Morris and Kelly Kapowski in California.

In 2019, Mac started High School at his parents' alma mater Bayside High.

Changing His Ways

Mac has intense difficulties when the Douglas students transfer to Bayside, especially when he loses the Class President election to Daisy Jiménez. Mac believes that he can manipulate Daisy to his own accord, but this provides futile, and she begins changing things for the better of everyone at Bayside, not just the upper-elite.

When the mobile phones are confiscated at Bayside, Mac views this as an excellent opportunity to become more popular, and begins allowing students to use his second phone for $0.25/min. Daisy and the other students argue that this is outrageous, and is turning Bayside into a wasteland, but Mac refuses to give up his new pseudo-business. Eventually, Mac is convinced that he is more than his previous behaviour, and volunteers information to help DeVante Young remain at Bayside; a feat which Daisy applauds him for, and remarks is a step in the right direction for changing his ways.

Relationship with His Father

When Mac and the other students hear about the reopening of Douglas High, he and Lexi become sad at the prospect of the Douglas students, particularly Daisy, returning to Douglas. They agree to help Daisy with her staged walkout, and Mac invites his father, Zack Morris, to the walkout in an effort to gauge the interest of the press.

This causes tension between Daisy and Mac, with Daisy arguing that Zack won't show, and is full of false promises. Mac is hurt by the remark, but deep down fears that it could be true. As a result, Mac calls his mother, Kelly, and asks if his father is planning on attending. Kelly remarks that Zack will try to attend, but this doesn't give Mac much hope, who worries that his father was lying.

Eventually, the walkout arrives, and Mac's father does attend, but refuses to do anything concrete for their cause. Mac and Daisy confront him, and Zack argues that doing the right thing is harder than it seems. Mac is horrified by his father's behaviour, but is enlightened when his mother arrives to convince Zack to help their cause. Afterwards, he and the others enjoy a milkshake at the Max to celebrate their success.[2]

Return to School

After the pandemic, Mac and the other students returned to school after finishing the previous year virtually. Wanting to make up for the lost year, Mac pulled a series of pranks that would have previously been spread out over a year. He also spent a very brief time dating each of a long list of girls. Daisy interrupted these timed dates and asked if he believed she could win student council president over Yasmin, who had announced her campaign. Mac didn't think so, because people wanted fun after being stuck in their houses and Daisy isn't fun. Daisy decided to join Mac throwing a party that included all the parties they'd missed for the previous year. She even offered to get Toddman to agree to let them use the school to host it. They then created and hung posters advertising the party, which would include all the events they missed except the Date Auction because Daisy said it was human trafficking.

At the party, Mac walked around with an airhorn, which he used to signal the change from one party theme to the next every few minutes. Halfway through the party, Daisy asked him to stop with the jarring theme changes, but Lexi wanted him to skip to the Sweetheart Dance despite several other events being scheduled ahead of it. He did it when she insisted.

After the party, Mac badly helped Daisy clean up and told her she could still win. She admitted that what she really wanted was for things to go back to normal and pretend the last year hadn't happened, but they couldn't do that because it did happen and they lost things they'll never get back. As they talked, other students came back in to help with the clean up.[3]

Subliminal Tapes

When Daisy told the others that she had a crush on Gil and wasn't sure what to do about it, Mac suggested she record tapes with subliminal messages. She said that had serious consent issues. Despite this, Aisha later approached Mac for a tape to make the other football players brave enough to stand up to their parents and convince them to get football season restored. Mac also used one of his own tapes to spy on a girls sport team, which backfired when the girls discovered him.[4]

History Presentation

In Modern Southern California History, Mac was grouped with DeVante and Jamie to do a presentation on earthquakes. DeVante immediately started making a plan, but Jamie was distracted watching his father move out on the Ring cam. DeVante started writing the presentation himself and suggested they practice it. When Jamie started crying while trying to read the presentation, DeVante and Mac decided to toughen Jamie up a little. They spent the day trying to do that. When Slater found out what they were doing, he called them into his office and told Jamie he couldn't go through life burying his feelings. He encouraged Jamie to admit he was having the feelings for a reason and it was okay. Jamie realized it was okay to be sad that his parents were splitting up. They were able to finish their presentation and Jamie was able to read it without a problem.[5]

Zack Subbing and Talent Show

When Mac's Government teacher, Mr. Kim, abruptly quit in response to multiple pranks Mac pulled, Zack stepped in to teach the class as a substitute. Mac was initially excited, but became less so when he saw how much people favored Zack over him. At the same time, Daisy had asked Mac to drop out of the talent show because him participating meant no one else would. He agreed, but he went back in when he realized it was a way he could top his father at something. When his father also participated in the talent show, he was upset. He decided to hire an actor to pretend to be the new Government teacher so Zack would leave. The actor was actually Zack in disguise, but Mac knew that because he'd figured out that her name, Mrs. Zoracki, was an anagram of Zack Morris. He pretended he didn't know when his father said he wouldn't be working at Bayside anymore. Since he hadn't beat his father in that, Mac decided to lead the school to win the Spirit Competition, which his father hadn't been able to do when he was a student.[6]

Becoming Spirit Czar

At the next student council meeting, Mac started to rally people for the Spirit Competition. He was worried that while Valley had all their required volunteer hours, Bayside wasn't even halfway there. He therefore appointed himself Spirit Czar. Daisy rejected that, so he said she could be Spirit Czar. Despite this, Mac kept suggesting ways they could get more hours even when Daisy said she didn't want his suggestions. Finally, Mac took matters into his own hands and kidnapped the Valley mascot, a bulldog named Belinda, after they kidnapped Bayside's mascot, a stuffed tiger. Finally, Daisy relented and agreed to let him be the Spirit Czar.[7]

On the day of the career fair, Mac skipped the career fair, where he would normally spend the whole fair pranking Toddman, and spent the whole day in the library, figuring out out they could win the spirit competition.[8]

Mac pushed everyone to get as many volunteer hours as they could in order to qualify for the competition. Once they reached their required hours, he started evaluating all the students in school and figuring out their particular talents, which he used to select the best possible candidate for each of the spirit competition's events. He told Jamie that he hadn't been selected for an event because he had no talents or abilities. He also told Daisy she would be doing the limbo. Because Daisy didn't want to, Mac agreed to let Jamie and Daisy go head to head on limboing and the winner would represent the school. Daisy easily won when Jamie slipped and got a concussion. Mac then told Daisy they needed to start training, but she refused, which upset him.[9]

Pranking Gil

Mac went to Daisy to get her help entering all their volunteer hours for the spirit competition. Gil offered to help him instead. However, after Gil helped him, he immediately started pranking Gil, pledging to destroy him, despite everyone expecting him to plot revenge on Valley for decapitating their mascot, Trevor the Tiger. He continued his pranks until Jamie and Lexi kidnapped him and handcuffed him to a pole, saying they'd keep him there until he admitted that he was only pranking Gil because he had a crush on Daisy and felt threatened by Gil dating her. Mac finally admitted that and called his next prank off, so they released him. However, he then went and did the prank anyway, turning the whole school against him until Daisy came in with Trevor's decapitated head and told them that Gil had done it, as he was really a spy from Valley.[10]

After the truth was revealed, Gil told Mac and the others his whole plot to take them down. He'd done several things to sabotage them that went completed unnoticed. When those didn't work, he went to plan B: deleting their volunteer hours. Despite this betrayal, Daisy still struggled with her feelings and wanted to talk to Gil. Mac offered to stay with her all day and make sure she didn't answer her phone. When they were unable to get the Valley principal to talk to the spirit board about restoring their hours, they rushed to find another way to get the hours they needed. Toddman suggested a dance contest and made attendance and participation mandatory for all students.

At the dance, Mac continued to keep Daisy from answering her phone to talk to Gil. He also helped by giving Daisy possible answers to the questions she had about Gil's actions. Finally, they got to a question that he couldn't find a possible explanation for. Daisy ended up talking to Gil and dancing with him outside the school, though she was actually just using him to make sure they got all their volunteer hours as Spencer had been forced to drop out due to an injury.[11]

Spirit Competition

As the Spirit Competition approached, Mac explained to the students that they'd be going up against Valley and two other schools. At the end of the events, the top two schools would go head to head in an obstacle course. As they got ready, Mac and Daisy checked items off a to-do list. Toddman said that the closest Bayside had come to winning in 200 years had been when his father competed and asked Mac to ask his father for advice, but Mac refused, as he was only doing the Spirit Competition to top his father.

However, when things started to go south, Mac reluctantly went to his father and asked what Valley had whispered to him before the final race that made him lose. Zack said he couldn't tell Mac, but ultimately, Zack revealed that Valley just told him to have a nice race. He used it as an excuse for losing because he was embarrassed.

As they reached the finals, with Bayside up against Valley, Mac realized that in order for Bayside to win, he had to lose and he said Jamie was going to run the final obstacle course in his place. Jamie easily coasted through things that would have sabotaged Mac and won the race. While they watched the race, Zack asked why Mac wasn't running. Mac said he needed to prove he was better than his father. Zack said he didn't have to prove that because of course he was better. Mac did all kinds of things Zack could never do, like caring about other people. Zack never would have been able to give up the glory of running the final race for the good of the team. Jamie won the race and the students of Bayside celebrated their win. Daisy whispered something in Jake's ear and told Mac that she'd told him she only dated guys who won the Spirit Competition, which Mac liked.[12]

Personality

Like his father, Mac Morris is a mischievous prankster. He'd sometimes flood the Gym at Bayside[13] and pranked his father during his inauguration as California's governor.[14] Due to being the Governor's son, Mac Morris is spoiled by the privileges that come with it. Following the transferring of the Douglas High Students to Bayside, Mac mellows out and becomes selfless and more humble. Unlike his parents, Mac Morris lacks common sense as he initially had no idea that he and Jamie Spano were dating the same girl despite obvious signs, until Daisy pointed it out to them.
